Default Once a bottle of liquor is opened and exposed to the air...

...is the taste affected?

It seems to me that when I first open a bottle, regardless of what it is, I can drink it just fine. But if I put the bottle back on the shelf for a week or so, and then drink out of it again, it just doesn't seem as good. It seems a lot harsher.

I imagine it depends on the liquor, but I haven't noticed it with anything I drink.

That sounds kinda weird. I know that once the air hits the alcohol, it starts to oxidize it and diminish the flavor, but that shouldn't happen within a week of opening it. Once the level of alcohol starts getting low the process speeds up.

Solution : Fill bottle open area with water before you put it away, thereby lessening the air left in the bottle.

No thanks, I would rather the alc content be lower than to dilute my s*** with water.

My car runs better after an oil change.
