I picked up some Pyramid Apricot Hefenweizer the other night. Never had a Hefe before so I'm not sure if it was that style of beer, or the flavor of the apricot, but I thought it was terrible.

My favorite Hefe is by far from Gordon Beirsch. Its soooo damn good! It has a mild banana after taste to it. Next to GB is another local brewer, Pizza Port. Their Hefe is almost as good......very smooth.
As far as a Hefe that you would buy in the store.....I like Ayinger, Franziskaner, and the Paulaner Hefe isn't to bad

It's the only one I've tried of the kind, but I like Shiner Hefeweizen.

Only thing I've tried was Blue Moon with orange, and one they had at a local pub but I can't remember what it was called.

I prefer the Shiner Hefeweizen. No fruit in beer.

I am surprised that no one has put my favorite up yet, franziskaner. Made in Bayern (Bavaria to us americans). It is exceptional. I like the lighter brown bottle for drinking and the darker brown bottle with a meal. If yall can find it, buy it. It is tied for my favorite beer. Make sure you pour it correctly though and the sediment in the bottom is very normal. You pour slowly with no head until there is about a inch or so of it left. Then take the bottle swirl it around and pour it heavy for the head and let it drip to get all of the heavy wheat taste into the glass.
Franziskaner Weissbier Brewery Munich. Refreshingly different - Beer from Bavaria.

Widmer Hefeweizen is my favorite, it's a very good beer. I think it's even better in a frosted mug.. my ex says it's even better with a slice of lemon.. I don't care for that, though.. I have my Hefe without the lemon.

oh my, in a frosted mug it tastes like hammered hell. I know its very local to you, and we just received it here in Tx.
I love Hefes though.
Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier is very good.
Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier pretty good too
Julius Echter Hefe-Weiss Hell (Premium) another good one
Paulaner Hefeweissbier pretty good too
Michelob Bravarian Wheat is decent, nothing amazing
Shiner Hefe is decent too
Widmer, good, but its an American Hefe and pales in comparison to the German "version".

+1, but I'm always open to something new. Franziskaner sounds like a great one, I'll try it next...

I'm a Shiner hefe fan as well. It's one of the better ones that I've had I don't mind if it has an orange or lemon but I don't necessarily ask for it either

I'm finishing one right now. I'm not sure I like it all that much. It is a bit too bitter for me.
Probably will not try again.
