Default Young's Double Chocolate Stout Review :)

Appearance - This beer pours very dark in color with a tan colored, creamy head which sticks around for quite sometime. It is a very inviting beer at first sight.

Smell - As soon as the cap comes off the first thing you will notice about this beer is the very dominate chocolate smell. Underneath the chocolate smell, you will find a hint of caramel and coffee.

Taste - Much like the smell, the first thing that is noticable is the chocolate that just seems to linger in the mouth long after swallowing. There is also a hint of hops at first but it quickly fades after a couple sips.

Mouthfeel - At first feel, the only appropriate way to describe it is to liken it to that of a chocolate milkshake. It has a very smooth and creamy feel to it that is quite appropriate for this beer.

Drinkability - Overall, this is a very pleasing stout. The chocolate aftertaste is a bit strong but it suits me perfect. I would definitely love to enjoy another one of these sometime.

Do you have any past experience with any other chocolate flavored beers to compare this to by any chance?

Well I asked because the only kind I have had was by Rogue. I'd reccomend giving it a try sometime. I'd be interested to see someone compare the two.

This beer should be compared head to head with Brooklyn Brewery's "Black Choclate Stout", which is a serious choclate stout.

Its damn good compared to Rogues Chocolate stout, and Bison's Chocolate Stout as well.

Youngs Dble Choc. Stout is in my top 3.

IIRC, which I may not, this is one of the beers that Snuff sent me. I'm not at all a dark beer/stout drinker, but I was suprised at the flavor. It wasn't NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be. I shared it with my mom and she absolutely loved it. I had a couple sips then poured me the Trappist, she finished her's long before I finished mine.

If you liked that, you'll like this as well, but it's a tad pricey. Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock - Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams) - Beer Advocate
