Yeah you read correctly, this distilled spirit offering from Dogfish Head(the very same brewery of grand reputation) is spelled "jin" as opposed to "gin". They also make rum and vodka, neither of which I have tried yet.
I picked up a fifth of this for $24.99 last night. At 80 proof(the DFH website claims 90 proof, but my bottle says 80

a different batch perhaps) it's a bit weaker than your typical london dry, but the lowered strength may make it more palatable to the uninitiated gin drinker. The botanicals distilled in this one include pineapple mint, green peppercorn, rosemary, and of course the ever present juniper berry.
I thought it was crisp and tasty, you don't get inundated with that cholorphyll-esque juniper taste, but it's still present as it should be. In true Dogfish fashion of making unorthodox beers, they have made a gin with botanicals that are a bit different. However, the taste of them seemed kind of muddied, I couldn't really pick out one from the other (the problem may of course be with my palate, and not with their distillation).
Overall, it's a good tasting gin, but in my opinion it's a bit overpriced. I wouldn't pay over $19.99 for this, and for that money, I could get Plymouth gin (my favorite for the past few years), or for a few dollars more Hendricks gin.
