When you do something worthwhile in life, you can make threads about it.

i should counter these legal zygote f***s and create threads about actually being a lawyer

i stupidly signed myself up for the seminole county bar association... not realizing that membership therein means that I have ALSO joined legal aid and agreed to take 3 pro bono cases a year

You should be one of those old-fashioned lawyers...one that does "everything".

Back in the old days, if you went to a doctor, he'd diagnose you and then treat your problem. These days he diagnoses you and sends you to a specialist to treat the problem.

Same with lawyers...if you want a divorce, you go to a divorce lawyer. If you broke the law, you go to a criminal defense lawyer. If you start a business, you go to a business law attorney.

I know lawyers that you can go to that will do all of that s*** for you.

people specialize nowadays there are still plenty of general practitioners out there, e.g. my father

however, things were different when he was establishing himself and learning. a young lawyer nowadays would simply not have the opportunities to work on such a variety of diverse cases as he did when he was learning. as a young lawyer, he did divorce, bankrupcy, corporate transactional work, and commercial litigation. he's also done some trademark, copyright, and patent litigation. at some point he even tried a few cases before the tax court.

now, there are too many lawyers so everyone specializes. my firm of 30 or so lawyers does only intellectual property (trademarks, copyrights, patents) and related litigation.

An Apple computer was lost in the Faculty Parking Lot (Lot O). The computer was in a black and gray case. If found, please return to first-year law student John Dumbass, (214) xxx-xxx, or the Law School Registrar’s office

A basic macbook is only 999.00 for students. I didn't figure a law student would be running with a MBP unless they wanted to play games or something.

I'll be rolling with a mbp whenever Apple decides to update them.
