Default Johnnie Walker: Green Label

This is Jonnie Walker's middle of the road scotch, aged 15 years. Like all Johnnie Walkers, it's a blended scotch, but it's a blend of single malts. I have no idea how that is different from a regular blend though.

As you'd expect, this isn't as smooth as the gold or blue label. However, this is a very flavorful (as in many different flavors) and complex scotch- more so than gold or blue label. It has a very unique flavor which is difficult to confuse for anything else. While it falls in the middle of the 5 Walker labels, it's hardly a middle of the road scotch- this is definitely the rebelling teenager of the Walker family.

Scent is very pleasing- fruity and sweet with a lot of malt. The taste is lot different than you'd expect from the smell- not very fruity, but more of the s***es come out. Due to it's complexity, thickness and richness of flavors I highly advise drinking this one over lots of ice and maybe even with some chilled water to really bring out the flavors.

The price is a bit high at about $55/bottle (thought it can be found online for $45+shipping), putting it in 15 year old single malt territory and only about $15 short of Gold label.

Bottom line: A great, unique and complicated scotch when you want something a little bit different.

Go f*** yourself, and expect the blue label in 3 months.

Seriously though I will only probably get the green label. It has to be better than black which I thoroughly enjoy.

It's definitely smoother.

However, Green Label is more DIFFERENT than anything else. It's a 15 year scotch, so it's fairly smooth (although it's not particularly smooth for a 15 year old scotch...nothing really special there). It just has a ton of flavor to the point where I can't even enjoy it without a lot of ice and/or water.
