Charcoal suit, black leather belt, black leather dress shoes (not boots, not sketchers- shoes), nice watch, white shirt, red tie. Can't go wrong with that.

edit: leather Belt, not tie. Sorry. Thanks, Nick.

Check out Macy's. Get measured. Make sure you go with a two-button jacket and try to get flat-front slacks. Charcoal is the best color, because it's slightly more versatile than navy. A trimmer style is more contemporary.

A 747!?!? We can't afford to lose any 747s, especially just for one house. Send a couple of naggers.

Why a two button vs a three button? Just curious, I really have no idea.

Three button is a bit more 90s. Two button is more conservative and trendy... somehow.

Two-button has always been the traditional style, and it only took a "back seat" to three-button jackets in the 1990s, which rose in popularity. There's nothing wrong with a three-button jacket, but two-button ones have regained ground as the more popular style.

Since it's always been a staple regardless, it's your best bet.

If I have less than no brain, and I could give someone the same exact advice, what does that say about you?

I can dress myself just fine... just because I choose not to wear a corporate monkey suit doesn't mean I don't know how to dress.

Good point, many people miss that. Button it when you stand up, too (unless you're just standing up for a quick moment).

Definitely can't go wrong with that, it's a pretty classic combo. Personally i think a navy suit looks better with the red tie, but like Rob pointed out, the charcoal is a bit more versatile.

I'm not going to go through this f***ing retardo mill again, but I know plenty of people who are quite well to do (moreso than anyone here) who don't ever wear a suit. I know a guy that worked there who retired in his 30's and is set for life (I mean like hundreds of millions)... he has a multicolored mohawk, piercings and tattoos everywhere, and he lives in a huge house and drives a totally bad ass Porsche Carerra 4. But you'd swear he was some unemployed derelict from looking at him.... and he looked like that the whole time he worked for Microsoft.
I'm sure he never wore a suit
I'm sure you knew him too.

s***, the lead singer from my old band retired when he was 36... and he is a multi-millionaire also.
There are richer people on this forum, several actually.

My old boss went to work for Amazon before IPO... retired at 38. She wore jeans and a t-shirt to work every day.
I'm sure she never wore a suit either.

My friend Kelly retired after 23 years at Microsoft, a multimillionaire also. He looks like some broke redneck dude, and has a totally wicked blown C5, and lives in a million dollar house on 10 acres...
I'm sure he NEVER wore a suit in his 23 years at Microsoft making millions of dollars .

No one is saying you need to wear a suit+tie to go for a jog or even to work everyday. A man should be able to dress himself in a suit when appropriate though.

That pretty much says you're a dumbass.

He didn't. And yes, I know him, I worked pretty close to him for several years. We just weren't like buddies that went out and did s*** together.

(a) How do you know?

and

(b) Who?

She didn't. She hated having to dress up for anything.

He didn't. Microsoft didn't pay him millions of dollars.... Microsoft stock he earned while working there ended up being worth millions of dollars. You'd see me in a suit before Kelly would even think of putting one on.

Yeah, but as far as I'm concerned that "when appropriate" is NEVER.

And I have worn a suit before.

I know none of you have "f*** you" money. They all do. If you had f*** you money, you'd have better things to do than hang out here.
