I've been working in Memphis for the past 2 weeks and theres a flying saucer here. While theres one in Dallas, I usually go to Idle Rich for my good beer cravings.
As a man who constantly travels and according to the realest realist "has no life", I'm all about frequent flyer/stays/buy my s*** programs. And the Flying Saucer has such a program. Basically the main goal is to drink 200 different beers and you get a plaque with your name on it and a free 100 dollar tab for a night.
Is anyone else part of this program, and what beers do you recommend so that I can ultimately reach my goal of 200.
also sadly you are only limited to 3 beers/day for "safety" reasons.
The German flight, UK flight, US flight, Around the World flight, Paulaner Heffe, and Shiner.
The flights are fun, but i dont recommend having all four at once like I did. I dont mind drinking 8 beers, but g****** all those different flavors (everything from from a nice lager to the double chocolate stout) really messes with your stomach.

Idle Rish is a great place for a good beer selection but Flying Saucer kicks Idle's ass. Also, you need to check out Gingerman as well which is just right around the corner from Idle Rich in Dallas.
To answer your question though, I've never joined the Beer Knerd club because I was so far into my list by the time I discovered that place that I didn't bother. I probably should do it anyway though.

i do love the gingerman for more relaxed nights, i've been to the one in nyc and houston as well, and so far dallas takes the cake.
I've considered joining and working toward a plate, I usually make it down there 1-2 evenings a week after work....i could pull off a plate in 8 months or so.
