"Sheep Dip" Scotch Whiskey
Well, first, the good:
The wrapper around the cork is the thickest and best I've ever felt.
The bad:
$45 for an 8 year old quasi-blended scotch (it's a blend of single malts, like green label, not a blended scotch like Chivas or Black label.
I'm really not at all impressed with this scotch. I bought it based on recomendation from a law school professor and I dare say she was wrong, especially for the price.
This stuff is fairly harsh with a flavor that leaves much to be desired. It's actually hard for me to really write a good review because I don't enjoy the taste. I'll do my best though:
Fairly complex with water or ice really bringing out different flavors. The more water/ice I add, the more smoky flavor comes out. It's not overly smoky, but it's definitely there. Even with the ice added, it's still fairly harsh, even with the ice.
I taste a bit of caramel, fruit and nut buried in its otherwise unpleasant flavor.
Bottom line: Stick with Black bottle (or hell, even JW Black Label) and surprise the lady with some flowers at the office for the difference. At best, it gets a C+ while the price commands a B+. I don't think you'd be missing much if you lived a life without sheep dip.
