I wasn't the lead prosecutor, but I was the "number two" meaning I did the jury selection and closing argument. I got a "stat" and one win, technically and it would actually mean something if I worked there. The defendant cried during sentencing. Nothing fun about watching a grown man cry. It was just a DWI, but I found out later that the guy was driving with his dealer and other stupid crap so I have trouble feeling bad for him. I still didn't like having to watch a grown man cry for mercy though- ugh.
Dont get a DWI. they suck.

Congrats Tray!
They still call it DWI in Texas? Or is that only drinking?
They call it DUI here in Florida. Why is it different? Or is there another one they call DUI in Texas? I think they just "combined" it here in Florida. I don't really know.
Maybe an expert lawyer from the State of Florida can give us the scoop.

I just figured they changed it because no matter what you are under the influence of, you are getting nailed. Leaves it wide open.

Google......if you aren't a lawyer and such.
Is there a Difference Between a DUI and a DWI?
Quote:
Some states throughout the country have developed a zero tolerance policy, and consequently, they do not recognize any difference between a DUI and a DWI. As far as the laws of these states are concerned, any blood alcohol level over the specified limit is a crime that will be punished in the same manner. In some states, the terms DUI and DWI are used to indicate whether a person was driving impaired under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In this case, DUI is reserved for illegal drugs.

well, neither acronym says alcohol.
Driving Under the Influence. doesn't specify influence of what.
Driving While Intoxicated. doesn't say what the substance that you're intoxicated on is.

it was light, but it was a DWI. PS: DWI includes drugs other than alcohol.
