Default Just got a Home Brew Kit :)

My Brother got me this for Christmas.

We have some Grolsch bottles from when my Grandpa used to bottle his beer (he puts em in kegs now) that I plan on using. First batch is going to be an Amber ale my brother picked out to come with the kit.

Can't wait to get started.

Just be careful with the glass bottles on your first brews. They can explode during the carbonation process if you aren't careful. Good luck though and have fun!

Yeah I've heard this a few times. I might pick up some plastics for my first few batches to be on the safe side.

Personally, I prefer brewing in plastic bottles. I don't believe there is a taste difference and being one liter it's less work to bottle the beer when it's ready. Everyone is different though

You should NEVER bottle your beer in a green or clear bottle, it will cause your beer to become skunky

Well, I finally started my first batch tonight! Now the wait begins.

I also pulled out all of the Grolsch bottles we had in storage and started cleaning them up. Unfortunately, only about 30-32 of them are brown, so it looks like I'll have to use a few green bottles.

I suppose I could save up a few sam adams bottles and use those, but I don't have a capper.

Actually, it would be pretty cool to use both and see how much different it turns out. If your careful enough there won't be any difference
