Default Mendocino Brewing Company Red Tail Ale

I picked this one up for S&G's tonight.

Poured from the bottle it had an orangish color, not quite as dark as I expected. It had a moderate head with pretty decent lacing. It smells faintly flowery and sweet. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, not overly carbonated. It starts off very sweet with hints of caramel, maybe a little citrus. It finishes very hoppy with a bitter aftertaste. Overall I give this one a 3, nothing special, but not bad either.

I tried a few brews from Mendocino tonight; the White Hawk Original IPA and the Select Ale. (I have another in the fridge, but may leave it for next time.)

The White Hawk was okay; kind of like a 'Guinness Lite.'

The Select Ale kind of reminded me of Guinness.

To be honest, I never heard of Mendocino before. A local "spirits store" sells this brand because of the higher alcohol content, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I used to live in the lil s***hole town the Mendo Brew Co. is in....so I'm pretty familiar with them I still get most of their goodies down here in the SF bay, but I only like the Red Tail Ale, and "Eye of the Hawk"
Mendocino Brewing Company - Eye of the Hawk Select Ale

I like them both quite a bit, and will get them in lieu of Sam Adams Boston Lager, or Pacifico......(my 2 standby's)

EDIT: First Post

Eye of the Hawk is the s***. I did a brew pub tour of Northern California years ago before I was married. Medcino was one the places we stopped at.
