Default Getting Started

I am thinking about getting into brewing my self. I have read through most of the posts on here already but my biggest question is; is it worth it to bite the bullet and buy a higher end kit? Take this site for example, Homebrew Headquarters is it worth it to purchase the deluxe stage two as apposed to the blowoff starter kit. Thanks for the input guys!

I've only just started my first batch last night, but I would suggest going with the delux kit. I have the a kit similar to the deluxe two stage, and seems to be working well/easy for me so far so I would say go with that. Besides, It's only $10 more than the other kit you mentioned, and should probably be more user friendly IMO.

I don't see anything listed about cleaners/sanitizers with the kits, so you'll have to be sure to pick some up as well.

Yeah I noticed that, I am more or less figuring on the deluxe kit. There is a local brewing supply place here in Spokane that I am going to visit on Thursday and check on supplies and cleaners.

I would definitely get that 2 stage deluxe kit. A bottling bucket makes bottling an ease so it's well worth the extra $10. You probably shouldnt worry about the deluxe advanced kit yet though. You can always upgrade later by adding another carboy as your secondary fermenter. But you should brew a few beers with a primary fermenter only before ya step up to that.

I feel the opposite as the others in this thread. A two stage kit is used for nothing more than increasing the clarity of your beer. If the cliudiness of a beer gets to you then sure go with the two stage. To this day I still have a one stage kit and I don't plan on changing any time soon, if ever. I'm sure if you've read through the threads you've seen the book I suggest purchasing and I can't suggest it enough. Remember, you don't have to read the book before you start brewing. It's very helpful and informative for homebrewers though. If you have any questions post em up and we'll help you in any way we can

You don't really need the two-stage kit, but all I do is two-stage. It is amazing how much crap gets left behind when you transfer between the two.

Most of that gets left behind when you bottle it straight from your first stager as well
