Default Vampire Vineyards

I haven't tried this yet... but here is the story behind it

The Story

Ever since the Fourth Century B.C., long before tales of vampires spread throughout the land,
the Transylvanian people mastered the art of producing wine. Plato proclaimed the vineyards
of Transylvania to be the finest in the world.

The wines became such renown that in the First Century B.C., King Burbista ordered the
destruction of the vineyards to deter the incursions of foreign invaders into the land.
Fortunately, many of the vines escaped destruction, and the memories and knowledge
of a wine-loving people refused to die.

Now, Transylvania's most cherished secret, the blood of the vine, has once again been released.
Made by a master winemaker, in accordance with ancient secrets of folklore, combined with
modern vinification techniques, Vampire Wines continues to ignite the nocturnal passions.

I'm am going to order me some... so i will let you know how it is. Here is the site...

Picked up some of their Pinot Noir, and Cab Sauv, at World Market a little after 91 mentioned that World Market carried them. I'm going to hunt them down tonight and open one. Reports to come.

Had the Pinot Noir last night, and had to think it over for awhile - I was a little surprised. It didn't taste like a Pinot "should" - the color looked a little off, and it had a more gentle bouquet than I expected. Also, it certaintly didn't taste as young as I had expected.

It was a very round, smooth taste with none of the bitterness I have come to expect in the aftertaste of a young grape Pinot, and I was all in all pleasantly surprised. On the downside, however, the taste was not very complex. Beyond a little blackberry or similar, I couldn't distinguish any particular guile in the flavor of the grapes - the least complex Pinot Noir I think I have ever tasted, it reminded me more of a Pinot Meunier based table wine with a less cloying taste.

Not something I would necessarily buy on a regular basis, but I would drink it again. 6/10 in general, 3/10 in terms of pinot noir expectations.
