Default Rochefort Trappistes 8

Rochefort Trappistes 8

A Belgian Strong Ale brewed by
Brasserie Rochefort
Rochefort, Belgium

First, a picture of the bottle and a pouring. (Yes that is a cutting board and a collection of bottles behind it, I'll post those later, just trying this out for a change).

Bottle. Pours a nice deep brown with hints of red/cherry in the light with an off white, light tan head that starts thick and finishes with the beer at a smaller size. Leaves excellent lacing if you care about that, the best I've seen. Sweet aromas of floral, candies, sugar, hit the nose while most of the same flow on the tongue with full flavorings. For a Belgian this goes down very fast and smooth, and is very easy to drink. For 9.2% it covers very well, hardly noticeable until the very end when it has warmed.

Note: If you are in Texas, and see any Rochefort, pick it up while you can. From what I have been told it will no longer be available in the state of Texas. I'm still looking for a 10.... (hint, hint)

Break down
Aroma: 7/10
Appearance: 5/5
Flavor: 9/10
Pallet: 4/5
Over All: 17/20

IIRC this is one of the beers that Snuff sent me, and it was a great beer. I really enjoyed it. Instantly took me back to the days when I lived in Belgium.

Me too.

I picked up the last 2 of these at my local store today. I'm going hunting this weekend since its apparent they are not going to be found in Tx any more.

I have a few others to try though. Westmalle I believe is one..

Elaborate a little more if you can, a new thread if you want.

I *almost* picked up both today.

Guess I'll pick those up this weekend.

I think I have another 8 beers in my fridge since I posted the "whats in your fridge" thread.

I should start drinking and stop collecting.

Well you know, as a good friend, I'd be willing to accept any amount of beer that you just cannot seem to get to. It's a sacrifice on my part I know, no need to thank me, but I'd be willing to help you out.

I have several beers in the fridge I will not drink. Some are saved for trades with another mod on ls1tech. The others are general trades.

I'm going to do some inventory this weekend to start off the beer trade.
