Unibroue Éphémère was the worst that I have had, but some people like The Juggernaut love it.
I have a Unibroue 15 that I plan to drink this weekend, its supposed to be great.
I wouldn't say I "love it"... I thought it was alright, but it's no LFDM, and I probably wouldn't buy it again. I just make it a point to try every beer a manufacturer makes. I've had exactly ONE bottle of Ephemere, the apple stuff.. and have a bottle of the cranberry version in my fridge... and I bought it just to try it. I probably won't buy it again.
Those of you who don't like Maudite or LFDM probably:
(A) Drink swill like Buttwiper or Spiller and think it's good.
(B) Drink it ice cold right out of the bottle.
(C) Don't have a taste for good beer.
Cuz Maudite and LFDM, when served correctly are awesome beers.

Not my fault you don't have taste. It's like you have a taste for McDonalds, and then have a real hamburger and think it's tastes like s*** because it doesn't taste like McDonalds.
For those of you that don't like Maudite or any Unibroue you've tried...here's a link from their site with instructions on how to taste the beer. After all the hype from Zeke about 1.5 years ago and the beer snobs, I did some research on it and searched all over DFW to find it. I followed the instructions from them and it was one of the most rewarding beer experiences. You have to know how to serve it - let it warm up...don't drink ICE cold!!

Ah, by the way you talked of it I thought it was one of your favorites.
Good 3 points too.
LFDM is good, but Trios Pistoles is very nice too. In fact (I'll have to review notes) but I think I liked the Trios Pistoles more than LFDM.

From what I remember it was a real hoppy tasting brew, and for the most part I'm not the biggest fan of hops.
Its the same way with a lot of the Belgian ales, they were just way to hoppy for my palate. I don't hate all Belgians because I absolutely love Trappist beers like Rochefort 8 and 10.
Both my sisters are beer snobs and love IPA's. I hate em...

Maudite is not hoppy at all.
It's very rich and kinda has a hint of nutmeg/cinnamon flavor to it... it's ESPECIALLY good on tap when served correctly. My first taste of Maudite was on tap, directly from a rep from Unibroue at a beer festival here in Seattle, and it was without a doubt the best beer being served there that day. Most places that have it on tap will let the sediment in the beer settle to the bottom of the keg, and that makes it lose a lot of the cool flavors.
From Unibroue:

In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. It contains 8 % alcohol and is also the first beer brewed in America that improves with age. When served young, it is very smooth, but when served after several years of storage, its flavour is reminiscent of port. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and s***y dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.

Not really... Ephemere is probably one of my least favorite Unibroue beers. I'd just never tried the cranberry version, and had been looking for it for a long time.
LFDM is definitely my favorite Unibroue that you can still buy. I've had Trios Pistoles and I like it, but it's a little on the dark side for my tastes. Edition 2005 was a MUCH better dark Unibroue beer... it was like a brown ale, almost a stout, but one that had been made correctly so it didn't taste burnt, and it was really thick and syrupy. Man that s*** was good.
But actually, Unibroue 11 is my favorite of all time. That stuff was OUTSTANDING, probably one of the best beers I have ever had. They only made 6000 cases of it, though, and only 2500 of them went to the US. You can't find it any more.

I didn't care for LFDM at all.
I drink Bud light, and think it's good for what it is, a beer to get drunk with.
I drank the LFDM out of a brandy snifter after it had warmed a bit per the instructions on the bottls.
There are plenty of micro brews that I think are fantastic.

I'd rather have Trois Pistoles.
OR Rochefort 8
OR St. Bernardus ABT 12
I've not had St. Bernardus, but it would be close between the LFDM and Roch 8. The Roch has a stronger, bolder taste to it than LFDM IMO, as well as more of an alcohol aftertaste. I'd probably still stick with the LFDM.

Oh you really need to try some St. Bernardus then. I like their Trippel and the ABT 12. Both very good. The ABT 12 special edition was darker and full of more dark fruits than I expected, wasn't too wild about it, but it was good.

Someday. I have a friend that is supposed to be visiting me from MD in the spring and I'm giong to see if he'll stop by the Beer superstore before he comes to pick me up some good beers. I'm trying to convince my dad to brew his own again, it's the only way to get good beer here.

We could work out something on the 10 and the bernardus....

I tried the St Bernardus Abt 12 a few days ago, and it is QUITE tasty. Right up there with Unibroue, definitely. I will buy it again, I enjoyed it a lot.
