Default St. Bernardus Prior 8

St. Bernardus Prior 8

A Belgian Strong Ale brewed by
St. Bernard Brouwerij
Watou, Belgium

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a large fluffy off white head with nice lacing. A nice big of flavor and aroma of malt, dark fruits, yeast some faint hints of chocolate. A nice finish that is somewhat thick on the tongue. Its not my favorite St. Bernardus, but its still a good brew.

I'll post more thoughts as the come to mind, I'm a little weak on notes/ideas at this point.

Its called a Trappist glass. Others I've posted were pint(shaker) glasses, and a duvel glass, which is similar to a tulip.

The Trappist ales are better suited being poured into a wide glass to help pronounce the robust flavor and allow the head to form properly.

Most good beer stores will have a few various styles available, if not, ebay has plenty different ones to try. I'd really like to find a St. Bernardus branded glass honestly. Most of the Belgian brewers produce glasses that are best suited for their specific brews. I plan on throwing up a little stickie about different beers in different glasses. Weizen style beers (hefewisens and even witbeers) really benefit from their specific style of glassware.

We are working on it. I have several pictures and other links to post, I'll probalby buy some more glassware this week or next too.

In the mean time I'll field any/all questions about beer temp/glassware/etc. I definitely do not plan to know all, but I know enough to suggest (most of the time).
