Home BrewingDiscuss, No offense, but what is the point of brewing? at Alcohol Reviews forum; Seems like alot of work you need to do for something you can get 10000 varieties of from the liquor ...
same reason you wrench on your car or make your own food. a feeling of satisfaction you get by doing something yourself
i don't wrench my own car becuase its easier for me to pay a mechanic then d*** around with something i know nothing about, and possibly f***ing up something
1. It's cheaper than buying beer in the store.
2. You can be creative and try any damn thing you can come up with in a recipe.
3. The learning experience
4. Future business possibility.
Correction...you CANT get 1000s of varieties of beers around here. All you can get here is the big names: Bud, Miller, Coors, etc. They cant even sell beer with an alcoholic content over 6% here

umm what state do you live in? (So i know never to move there)
So there are all the reasons from "can't get good beer" to "dry counties" to "experimentation" to "alcohol content limits" all of these are perfectly valid reasons to at least try brewing your own...Every self-professed "Beer Lover" should brew one batch at least in his/her lifetime...if nothing more than to understand where beer comes from.

True...true. Now that I have all the equipment ($75-$100) it costs me roughly $15-$20 for 45-48 1/2L (16oz) bottles...thats 42 cents per beer...which is cheap enough for all you broke mothers out there.
