I'd like to apologize in advance for registering when I'm not quite 18 yet. Reason why is because I'm 17, next Thursday is my 18th b-day, and on Friday my older sister is going to take me out of town as a designated driver for my first drink at a jazz bar that's pretty lax on ID as long as you're at least 18. I've got some questions about alcohol that I dont trust Google for answers. I hate how every time I want to just know some real facts about alcohol consumption as far as how long it stays in the bloodstream and long term effects, all I hear is extremely negative things from alcoholic self-help sites about how alcohol is a "disease". I've had alcohol before, vodka and cola is my norm though I havent had many types of alcohol. I'm a very responsible drinker who can stomach alcohol well, though I promised myself I wouldnt get drunk until I felt comfortable about it and right now I dont. I only drink on occasion at the moment. Gah I'm rambling. Anyways, I wanted to know some real facts about alcohol from the experts themselves. I looked at Wikipedia but it's too scientific for me to truly grasp the answers that I want. Anyways, as a child I heard that alcohol kills brain cells that will never grow back, is this true? How big of a difference is there between an drink that has 40% alcohol and a drink that has 10% alcohol? What kinds of alcohol have less noticeable of a bad smell of alcohol to them? What are the serious long term effects of alcohol that I should be worried about? Anything else that the experts want to throw in their for my well-being and safety would be helpful too, my sister says she plans on taking me out to drink with her more often now that I'm "of age" and I'm excited to be able to spend some quality time getting to chat and play pool with my sister.

That's a s***load of a post and too much for me to read.
But from what I did read it appears you are fed up with all the anti-alcohol propaganda and you are here to get down to the truth of the matter.
OK, here's the truth...
Alcohol is fine as long as you use it in moderation.
Keep in control of alcohol; do not let it control you.
It is illegal for you to purchase or be in possession of alcohol whether you like it or not.
