Gin and tonic, anyone?

Out of the people I know, I'm the only one who seems to really like gin and tonics. Can't quite explain why I like this drink since I'm not really a big fan of bitter drinks but a gin and tonic just hits the spot for me better than any other mixed drink a good portion of the time. Anybody else a big fan of gin and tonics?

Oh, and right now I'm drinking some Bombay Sapphire with Canada Dry Tonic Water

I'm not a huge fan, but I enjoy a nice G&T every once in awhile.

Can you really taste the difference with more expensive Gin? I'm cheap and buy Seagrams or Gordons because I'm low on cash.

Not sure. But, there is just something about Beefeater I like in a G&T.

You can DEFINITELY tell the difference between cheap and expensive gins. The botanicals, and whatever else they choose to distill it with should be very apparent. For example, Hendricks is distilled with most of the usual botanicals, but also with cucumber. It makes for a totally different, and great tasting imo, concoction. This is why I drink all of my gin straight over ice, because I like to taste it. Occasionally I will make a gin martini. But Seagrams and Gordons are complete garbage imo, no refinement whatsoever.

I guess I'll dig this thread up from the dead. For the past couple days, I've been enjoying my first real experience with gin. I picked up a bottle of Seagram's distillers reserve at the local state store. Anyone else try this gin? I can't seem to find any unbiased information on this one.

Anyway, I have had a few gin and tonics and am enjoying it. I'm finding this to be an easy drink to get right. I've also found that replacing the tonic with Coke (i.e. right now) is aslo a good alternative.

Also, I had a wild idea to replace the lime with a few dashes of Angostura bitters. Not bad. Although YMMV.

I'll stop now, as I'm starting to go a little numb.

I'm a tanqueray guy.

Some advice.. because it's such a dry drink, try and drink as much water as you can before bed, as you will wake up dehydrated more so than with other drinks...

Does anyone notice that for some reason when they drink gin, they pop right up out of bed early? Just an observation I've made

also, try it with an orange instead of a lime... pretty tasty either way but the change of pace is nice

Gin for the win.

Bought some of the cheap stuff on the way home from work. The party store did not sell any Tonic though so I got some ginger ale. Tasted really weird at first but better then nothing I guess.
