Exclamation LS2 Discussion...

Guys, the LS2 discussion is starting to have more of a presence in the Barstool than I'd like.

There's no question that many people believe we exist only in spite of LS2, which is not the case. Many of you are regulars here and, judging by some of the post counts, really enjoy the place. I'd like to try to keep all of the discussion about the other board in as few threads as possible, preferably just this one.

I've asked the staff to start merging LS2 discussion together, from this point forward. Any existing threads will be left alone, and those discussions will be allowed to run their course.

I don't want any of you to think that you can't talk about LS2. That is not the case at all. You can, as always, talk about pretty much whatever you want. We just don't want it to have such a large presence here, since that turns off many people who would enjoy AR otherwise. If they see one thread about it, no big deal. If they see a half dozen on the front page about it, that's a problem.

This may piss off a few people, but I think it's in the best interest of the board.

It's alright though. We couldn't care less if you rant about things that happen on LS2, but we also don't want it to have such a large presence here. This is the best compromise I could think of, since I refuse to tell you guys "You can't talk about that here".

It's time for us to grow past the red headed step child reputation.

You can take credit for spurring the action. It had been on my mind for a while, but after I saw that you mentioned it to Deafcon, for some reason that made me decide it was time to finally do something about it.

Reports are showing that JEW is trading at an overinflated unsustainable price, which reportedly coincides with the CEO's ego and pecker size.

This is a good move IMO. I enjoy getting the background dirt on LS2 when it gets deleted before I can see something amusing, but the number of threads was going overboard and I could see it running off people that came here for the alcohol, not because they left another board. It would start turning into an inside community that shunned the people not in the know.

Jew Enterprises already holds a patent. either pay us a 70% royalty fee or we're suing for patent infringement

We USED to be able to talk about it there as long as we didn't discuss prices, where to obtain, how to manufacture, or how to ingest. Guess not anymore seeing as none of that went on in that particular thread. Here's Elmer's response...

I wish you guys realized how much FTL Elmer and Borla as admins are. Neither of them give two s***s about the automotive portion of the site, and Borla had less than 100 automotive related posts his entire time on the site.

Fair moderation would be great in there if it were a site that was geared towards all cars, but it's not. Biased moderation actually helps the site acheive it's focus. To be perfectly honest, there was absolutely no f***ing reason whatsoever I should have had to create CG in order to save automotive content on the site.

If you have any question about how a car board SHOULD be run, just take a look at LS1TECH.COM, or LS1GTO/LS2GTO.COM.

i just don't agree. trolling is trolling, i don't care which brand of car the person doing it owns. to achieve the 'focus' of the site, should gm guys be able to create threads ragging on fords/imports? of course. but they shouldn't be allowed to RUIN active, quality threads about other makes of cars.

Trans Am, it's black and lightly modded, but I don't think he really takes care of it all that well and you'd never see him post a picture of it. I saw it and rode in it at G8.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how that hurts the big picture. What's it going to do, piss off people who like some other car better and make them leave? Who f***in cares if they leave, let them go.. More bandwidth for someone who is into what the site's about.

it can piss off a gm owner who happens to also enjoy other cars as well and was enjoying a discussion about one of them.

i don't know why you seem to think that if you own brand X of car, you cannot possibly also like brand Y and enjoy talking about brand Y vehicles.

I don't know what makes you think that I don't enjoy talking about "brand Y' versus "brand X".

Fact of the matter is... If I'm on a board for "Brand X" I don't talk about "Brand Y" typically... I go to a board for "Brand Y" and talk about it there with people who are really into "Brand Y" instead of people who are mostly into "Brand X".

When I wanna talk about Subarus, I don't go to a GM site, and likewise I don't really talk about GM cars on the Subaru site when I'm there, nor do I expect the members on either site to give the "dark side" even an ounce of respect. They don't have to. If I were to go on a site like NASIOC and complain that people were Subaru nutswingers and didn't give my F-body the respect it deserved, I would get laughed off the board by people you would term as "trolls" because they were rabid Subaru fans (on a Subaru site, figure the f***ing odds!). Sure there would be a few people that came up and said they were into F-bodies, but they would be the minority.

Same with LS1TECH... when I owned my STi, I didn't expect anyone on that site to be even REMOTELY into it, and some of the things people said on that site and other F-body sites were so insanely retarded that it was pretty maddening at times... but objectivity IS NOT A REQUIREMENT of posting on a message board.

I personally can't think of a brand-focused site I consider "successful" that discourages people from being rabidly passionate about the cars that site is focused on, or believes that cars the site ISN'T about should get a "fair shake" on their board.

If you wanna talk about BMWs... go to a BMW site... If you wanna talk about Hondas.. go to a Honda site. Expecting anything else is about as retarded as Opie and Anthony fans being pissed off they can't talk seriously about O&A on SternFanNetwork.com.

The reason I created CG, and the purpose you believe CG was for are two different things. I created it initially to save automotive content in general, had I not done something like that there pretty much wouldn't have been any car content to speak of now.

Had I been allowed to continue with my plan, it would eventually have been merged with GM News / Info / Discussion, and the site would be much more of a car board.

btw, evyl, i actually LOVE what the cg has become. if only it had more traffic. one forum to bulls*** about all kinds of cars. i like so many makes and models... and i don't feel like having to view 9 different forums to discuss them. i like it all in one place.

at this point, i almost think ls2 would do better as a general car site than a gm specific site

So do I, but when the forum becomes a place where we rant about what s*** GM cars were, and lament over how great everything else is, it kinda defeats the purpose of the site.

Rearranging the forums like they did is the most f***ing retarded thing they ever could have done, and the result has been exactly what I predicted.

I proposed many ideas.... in fact, I'd suggested at one point to separate BnG from LS2.COM and make it a separate site. I even bought the domain bar-n-grill.com. I just didn't like that we put that name on the site and then never ever tried to do what we advertised we were there to do. If we weren't going to try being "LS2.COM", I believed we should have changed the name to something more appropriate.

Because if LS2.COM was any indication of where GM was being taken in the future... GM might as well just f***ing hang it up now.

except that's not what it is at all now. gm cars are nuthugged and all other makes and models are discussed. a few gm trolls try to ruin those other threads but otherwise it's great.

the site may be more successful as a generic car site, actually. i think elmer and zed should consider that
