You can most likely find a kit on ebay for under $100. Some of the local shops around here in FL are charing just over $100 for a kit like that. The local shops also include a basic brew too.

This one was like $115 shipped but you can get it cheaper if you dont want the book, the glass carboy, or the autosiphon.

And I paid something like $40 shipped for the honey nut brown ale ingredients and it came with the malt extract, 2 kidns of hops, grains, honey, grain bag, priming sugar, and yeast
