Default Saki question

I bought some exspensive Saki about 10 years ago or so and never opened it. The question is, is it still good? Im thinking of opening it tonight and drinking it but if its not good Ill just leave it unopened.

From what I have read, it's really best to consume sake somewhat soon after you purchase it. FYI sake isn't really anything like liquor, it's characteristics are much more like beer. I can't really answer whether it's still "good" or not, but I will say that it's properties have more than likely undergone a change over ten years

Thats what I thought. It being a "rice wine" I figurd it wouldnt react to long sittings like a liquor would.

IIRC, the word loosly translates into "rice wine", but due to the brewing process(more than one stage), the finished product is much more similar to beer than wine(pretty sure I got that from wiki awhile ago, plus I have actually had the stuff before). Either way, it doesn't really belong in the liquor forum. Not that I really give a s***, more traffic for my forum
