your not paying for flavor when you buy premium vodka. you are paying for smoothness and lack of aftertaste and less burn.

I agree filter the cheap stuff. the difference between good vodka and cheap vodka isnt as drastic as other liquors and the filter makes the cheap ones decent.

Don't bother with filter. It doesn't last that long as a vodka filter and the filters aren't free and by the time you consider the cost of expended filters, you can easily buy a better vodka.
I think Grey Goose smells very nice, fruity and not solvent like at all, but the taste seems better with Smirnoff 21 for my liking.

If you are looking for something cheap yet incredible...svedka is the way to go. In california its only 12 bucks a bottle at most. And for martinis, russian shot is perfect. Again only 12 dollars at most.
